North Branford Transition Center

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL SERVICES, SARA ALBERTI:

The Special Services Department embraces the mission of the North Branford School System.  As a proud, caring community, we strive to prepare all students to be capable, confident life-long learners who are responsible citizens in a diverse and changing world by providing a comprehensive, challenging program in collaboration with family and community.  The North Branford Transition Center program provides students, aged 18-22, with opportunities to increase their awareness of their own skills in the areas of independent living, careers, community resources, and day-to-day functional academics. Students then receive training in these areas, in order to enhance their skills and knowledge toward increased independence and improved quality of life. Experiences are designed around each students’ transition goals within their Individualized Education Program (IEP).  In addition, the Transition Coordinator and job coaches work closely with students and staff to provide vocational experiences on the high school campus, at the Augur House program location,  as well as in the community.

A MESSAGE FROM THE TRANSITION COORDINATOR, LEA PIERSON:

Welcome to the North Branford Transition Center!  We are thrilled to partner with you on this important journey of growth, development, and discovery.  Our program is dedicated to empowering students as they transition from school to adulthood, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.  We pride ourselves on creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every individual is valued and celebrated.  Through personalized learning plans, community engagement, and skill-building opportunities, we aim to help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.  Our team is here to guide you every step of the way, fostering collaboration between students, families, and community partners. Together, we can create pathways to success and ensure every student is prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
