Transition Services

The North Branford school district offers programming that benefits both the students and the community. A message from the Special Services Director

"The Special Services Department embraces the mission of the North Branford School System. As a proud, caring community we strive to prepare all students to be capable, confident life-long learners who are responsible citizens in a diverse and changing world by providing a comprehensive, challenging program in collaboration with family and community. The School to Work program provides students, aged 18-22, with opportunities to increase their awareness of their own skills in the areas of independent living, careers, community resources, and day-to-day academics. Students then receive training in these areas, in order to enhance their skills and knowledge toward increased independence and improved quality of life. Experiences are designed around individual student's needs as identified in each student’s transitional goals within their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). In addition, the Transition Coordinator and job coach work closely with students and staff to provide vocational experiences on the high school campus, as well as in the community."
