Breakfast & Lunch Information & Prices

Good news for the 2026–27 school year!

All students can receive one FREE breakfast every school day.

· JHS & TVES: Breakfast program begins September 1st.

· NBHS & NBIS: Breakfast starts August 26th

Note on Lunch: Lunch is not automatically free for all students. We encourage all families to apply for the Free & Reduced Lunch Program to see if they qualify for meal assistance.

It is important, for households who may qualify, to submit a free and reduced-price meal application to determine a student’s eligibility for the school year. A new application is required each school year. This application and related information can be found on this page. As an additional note, families may qualify for free and reduced meals through the school meal application process or through the direct certification process managed by the Connecticut State Department of Social Services (CT DSS). The direct certification process coincides with food assistance programs extended by the CT DSS to families in need of this qualified assistance. These programs include the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance (TANF) and Medicaid.

Breakfast

One free breakfast meal per student each school day for the 2026-27 school year.

Lunch

➤Milk $0.75 ➤Reduced-priced Lunch: $0.40

Payment Options:

  • MySchoolBucks: Add funds to your child's lunch account using MySchoolBucks. Go to myschoolbucks.com or download the mobile app.
  • Cash or Check: Your child can bring cash or check to the cafeteria to be added to their lunch account. Please make checks payable to "North Branford School Lunch" and write your child's school and name on the memo line.

Last school year we began the School Breakfast Program (SBP) at NBIS. This school year we are excited to announce that we are expanding the breakfast program to JHS and TVES starting on September 1, 2026!

Returned Personal Checks / Nonsufficient Funds Fees

The North Branford Public Schools has an obligation to ensure that all expenditures are essential and reasonable and that they support the mission of the district. Legal Reference: Connecticut General Statutes 10-248 Payment of school expenses.

A nonsufficient funds fee (NSF) incurred from a parent, community member or third party shall be the sole responsibility of the writer of the check since paying such a fee is not a district expenditure.

New payment of the original check amount and the NSF fee will be accepted in the form of cash, certified check or money order only (no personal checks).

Lunch Balance Refund or Transfer Request

If you would like to request a lunch balance refund or an account balance transfer, please follow the instructions on the request form linked below. Please note, MySchoolBucks cannot process refund requests directly to families. All meal balance refunds will be processed by North Branford Public Schools.
