North Branford Schools Awarded Security Grant
Governor Rell Announces Grant Winners North Branford Public Schools has been awarded a security grant in the amount of $53,156.79 for four of our schools. North Branford was one of 360 individual schools to apply for assistance and one of 60 districts to be awarded the grant. A security checklist was completed for each school. These checklists were scored and reviewed by a committee of staff members from the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Education in determining the most competitive grant proposals. The grant funding is provided to districts to reimburse schools for some of the costs of surveillance cameras and other security measures which have been put in place to maintain a safe environment for students and the whole school community at large. This year marks the first year that these funds were made available to Connecticut schools. An additional $5 million dollars will again be available next year to continue the State's investment in school security.
